Here's Magellan-Film's great concept: movie geeks get together (130 of them at the time) and pay an annual contribution, so projects can get made. Any member can present a project to the council, which then votes regarding budget and distribution of resources such as camera and lighting equipment. The filmmakers go off and do their movie, make photocopies of every receipt (very important!) and get re-imbursed. Everybody's happy.
This is how Der Treppenwilli was made. I wrote/directed and scored this fairy tale about a young guy who gets stuck on a cursed stairway in a village called Neverhelp. He has to solve one riddle for each step, and not surprisingly, none of the Neverhelpers are of much help, though some of them seem to WANT to help. Hmmmmm...
The dedication from cast and crew was unbelievable! Ahhh, the good old times. ;-)
